ThumbNAILS

This morning we convened around a round table...something like a meeting of the minds...to discuss one another’s thumbnails. I am not referring to the ones on your physical thumbs...For those of you who are not versed in the art education system students are assigned to create a series of drafts prior to composing their final piece. During this compositional process students will have a peer powwow or a critique to share ideas and give feedback.

The most interesting piece of feedback was provided by the instructor. He encouraged us to “…fail…fail hard.” I think this is advice is absolutely above adequate. Why you ask? Because we are all students in unfamiliar territory in a basic Computers and Art class, so we are sitting in a sort of ignorance and the only way for us to make progress is by learning by our mistakes.

Here are three rough renderings that were selected by Prof. Smellie.
